Captain Tayo Sobajo prepares to embark on an innovative and developmental journey in the Maritime Industry.
Better still, he decided to carry along the younger sailors of our time.
He announced the rather expeditious decision on the 31st of August, 2020 after a Live Chat with 9ja_sailors on Instagram.
Captain T. Sobajo is a Marine Superintendent and Master Mariner (Senior DPO). He is an alumni of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria and Southampton Solent University (Warsash Maritime Academy) where he obtained an HND in Nautical Science in 2008. The industrious captain obtained his seafaring Class ticket from the later institution with the most recent being in 2005 (Master Mariner).
A brilliant Innovation by Captain Tayo Sobajo
The renowned captain is an enthusiastic seafare as well as a talented entrepreneur. He is also a business development manager at “Mo’ Mineral UK” where he supervises Brand expansion and launching of new products in the UK Market.
Furthermore, He has actively expressed his enthusiasm towards Economic Development, Education, Environment, Health and politics.

The captain decided to launch the online preparatory class for seafarers (Deck Officers only) after the Live Chat with the Instagram Community- 9ja sailors.
The Live chat which featured the Captain with his wife was held on the 30th of August, 2020 at 2000Hrs.
The interview themed “The seafarers Life: Relationship and Marriage” was a held in commemoration of the couple’s ten year marriage experience.
During the Live Chat, he was asked if he would consider lecturing in any of the Maritime Institutions.
I have picked up this challenge albeit by accepting to start an online Certificate of Competency (CoC) preparatory class for all interested deck officers

The captain reminisced on his good old Class 3 preparatory days.
“A lecturer volunteered to meet with my colleagues and I at the Warsash Drinking bar in Moyana Suite every Tuesday Night by 8:30pm to 10pm. Although I don’t drink Alcohol (except Palm wine when playing drft board games). I realized that those drinking had correct answers than myself”- captain Tayo Sobajo
He envisions to support the deck officers in inculcating good values and ample preparation for their respective CoC Examinations.
Simultaneously, The areas of discussions would include:
- Meteorology
- Stability
- Navigation
- RoR
- Bouyage System e.t.c
At the end of the innovative announcement, the Captain jokingly mocks the Engineers.
