Cocaine Bust: Captain and others detained

Cocaine Bust: The Captain and Senior Officers onboard a Japanese Capesize Bulk Carrier “Frontier Falcon” have been detained in regards to Cocaine found onboard during a bust operation.

The Capesize bulk carrier FRONTIER FALCON was berthed at Icdas port, Turkey (Marmara sea) on August 19. It was berth on arrival from Colombia.

The FRONTIER FALCON (IMO: 9546980) is a Bulk Carrier that was built in 2011 (9 years ago) and is sailing under the flag of Panama.It’s carrying capacity is 176820 t DWT. Her length overall (LOA) is 292 meters and her width is 44.98 meters.

The ship is managed by MIZUHO SANGYO CO LTD (EQUASIS).

On Aug 22, a joint team of police anti-narcotics division and the Coast Guard carried out a search on the ship (cocaine bust).

During the search, a container/Box was discovered on the ship’s hull.

The container/Box was attached to the hull of the ship’s aft section.

The Box contained packages with cocaine, totaling 25 kilo.

Hull inspection with deployment of divers is to be continued.

According to official statement, 7 crew including the Captain were detained, caught allegedly, in the process of procuring the packages from a box. It was reported officially as a cocaine bust.

Involvement of the crew including Captain and senior officers, is not yet conformed, details remain sketchy and unclear.

Usually, when drugs are found in hideouts, law enforcement bodies are either tipped off or monitor suspicious ships long before detention and search.
