The academy supports both online and over-the-counter registration. This means that candidates who cannot register online are still able to register physically at the institution.

- It saves cost: In past times, candidates would have to travel down to oron, Akwa ibom state. This is because over 90% of the candidates stay outside akwa ibom. The cost of transportation has been eliminated as candidates can now register online via the school portal.
- Fast and reliable: After verification of payments, candidates who made payment online are able to print their receipts and gate pass.
What are the Steps involved in registering for the Maritime Academy COC Online?
With the following steps outlined, registering for your COC at the Maritime academy of Nigeria will be stress free and hitch free.

- Visit the Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN) Oron official website. To visit, click here.
- Click on the menu Tab and select short course registration.
- To sign up, click on private (for individual account creation) or Company (for company account creation). Note: Signing up as private is usually not accessible on mobile phones. You may also use desktop mode (on mobile phones) on your Google chrome browser (if installed). Having issues signing up, use a desktop, tablet or a Laptop.
- Input your Names, Mobile number, E-mail. Do ensure to input the correct details and in the right order as stated on the portal. The above details cannot be changed after signing up.
- Verify your E-mail account and sign in to your dashboard on the Maritime academy website. Read the instructions on the dashboard area for more clarity.
- In the profile; update your personal information, contact information, particulars of parent/guardian/next of kin and upload a passport with white background.
- Click on educational detail and update all educational details (schools attended, year and certificate obtained), certificates (seafarer documents) and O’level results (WAEC/NECO- 1 or 2 sittings).
- Professional Services: Update your sea service records, other relevant experiences and upload your eligibility in PDF format.
- Two or more referees are to be added to your dashboard details. The referees’ name, contact details, e-mail, phone number and designations will be required.
- To view all available courses and their fees, click on course fees.
- At this stage, all the necessary details have been uploaded and completed. Proceed to pay for the COC Course by clicking on select course to choose course of interest.
- On the course of interest page; select course type- SPECIALIZED SEAFARERS TRAINING COURSE, Course- Pick your course of interest (OOW, Chief mate, Second Engineer, Master), Training Type- 1st time training and select the course commencement date (refer to 2021 SSTC calendar).
- For payments, generate payee ID. Select either online debit card payment or bank counter payment and proceed to payment. The transaction or payee ID can be used at the bank to initiate payment. Ensure your information is correct at the bank before payment.
- The list of approved Banks includes UBA, FCMB Bank, Heritage Bank, Jaiz Bank, Keystone Bank, Skye Bank, Stanbic IBTC Bank, Union Bank, Unity Bank. After payment, a confirmation order will be provided by the bank. You can always toggle between both payment methods. For reliability, use the bank counter payment method. NOTE: No refund of money after payment.
- Once the payment is done, verify payment by inputting the Confirmation order code.
- After verification, print receipt, Gate pass and Application Slip.
