MAIN ENGINE’s & THRUSTER’s PROPULSION STARTING PROCEDURE:
Before start, pls. check:
– lub oil level in M/E’s sump
– cooling water expansion tank level
– starting air pressure (min. 18 bar)
– drain water from starting air reservoirs
– drain water if present from steerable thrusters control air supply line
– check lub oil and hydraulic oil level in steerable thrusters system
1. Switch on pre-lubricating pumps (auto position) of M/E’s min. 10 min before engines start
2. Start main SW cooling pump
3. Start steerable thrusters lub oil pumps in ECR Wartsila panel
4. Start steerable thrusters pitch/ steering pumps in ECR Wartsila panel
5. Open indicator cocks
6. Move M/E local panel selector switch to “BLOW” position
7. Press and hold “START” button. Starter will be crank as long as the “START” button is pressed
8. Close indicator cocks
9. Move M/E local panel selector switch to “LOCAL” position
10. Press “START” button
11. When the engine speed reach specified RPM value, pneumatic starter should be disconnect automatically
12. Move M/E local panel selector switch to “REMOTE” position. M/E control is now transferred to ECR Wartsila control panel
13. Transfer M/E control to the bridge by pushing “TRANSFER/ IN SERVICE” push-button
